Our Secondary Residence Pods have a kitchen, laundry, bedroom/s and bathroom/s. It is a class 1A structure in accordance with the secondary residence, ageing in place policy and approvals through EPSDD. This structure requires a DA approval through the council.
Our studio Pods are classed as a 1A class construction and built without a laundry or kitchen. These smaller studio Pods have different inclusions to our standard Pods, they do not come with skylights or underfloor heating in the bathrooms. If you’d like a laundry and/or kitchen, please refer to the Secondary Residence Pods above. These Pods require a DA & BA through the certifier and are strictly code compliant.

The whole process we say takes approximately 6 months.
From signing a proposal with us, it takes approximately 3 months for plans & DA (Development application) approval.
Once DA approved, the BA (building approval) and the build takes approximately 3-6 months.
Through an online site check that our lovely team members will put together for you. They will create a block analysis for you from a satellite birds eye view in order to determine easements, parking requirements and approximately what size Pod can fit on your block. Just fill out the site address of the property and your email address on the form here, and we will get back to you on what size Pod can you fit in your backyard.
We are upfront and honest with our costings. We supply you with the Pod cost, the site works cost, the tie in cost and any extras you require in a Pod proposal. The only person who can change the cost is you if you want an extra product, item or service during the construction or if the council require additions in order to get the project approved.
We are relatively small and young business starting in Dec 2017 and we bring together the people with a wealth of knowledge to make up for it. Robert Valk has built a drafting company into an architectural firm by himself and been in the industry of construction for over 35 years and is very well known in the design industry of Canberra. Jacki, (Robert’s daughter), coming from fast pace Sydney, brings her experience from her finance and marketing background together, to present the business to the people of Canberra.
